Songbook Story is a small business with a big idea: helping people tell the stories of their lives through the songs that shaped them.
We offer a unique and heartfelt experience where you—or someone you love—take part in a guided interview with one of our expert interviewers. During this relaxed conversation, you’ll reflect on the songs that matter most to you and share the personal memories connected to them.
The outcome is a beautifully curated, 30-minute audio story that captures your songs and stories. A keepsake to cherish or share with family and friends.

How It Works
1. Choose your songs
We provide a guide for you to decide on your eight songs, the points in your life they relate to and reasons why you have chosen them.
2. Tell your story
We use this information to prepare a tailored set of questions and arrange for you to take part in a guided interview to share your chosen songs and accompanying stories.
3. Share your story
We take the interview recording to create a carefully edited version and send this to you in your chosen format. This is yours to keep and share with friends and family.
About Us
Songbook Story was founded by sisters Natalie and Louise, who share a lifelong love of music and a deep understanding of the importance of preserving memories. Having both experienced the loss of loved ones, they were inspired to create a way to capture voices, stories, and songs that can be cherished for generations. That inspiration became Songbook Story—an award-winning business idea dedicated to helping people preserve their personal legacies through music and story (Winner of Spelthorne Business Plan Competition 2025). Together, Natalie and Louise combine empathy, professionalism, and a passion for music and storytelling.
Louise
Louise brings over 25 years of experience as a mixed-methods researcher, with a specialism in qualitative research. Her expert interview techniques and deep understanding of social topics allow her to gently guide conversations, drawing out the unique stories and memories that become the heart of each Songbook Story.
Natalie
Natalie is an experienced Business and Project Manager with more than 15 years’ experience in business operations and leadership. She works at a strategic level to manage the cross-functional Songbook Story team, ensuring every stage of production—from initial concept through to editing and final delivery—is seamless, thoughtful, and handled with care.

Who is the Songbook Story experience for?
Songs can bring about many memories and Songbook Story enables you to capture the stories associated with them. A Songbook Story is for anyone that has a story to tell.
Can I buy this as a gift?
Yes, gift vouchers are available to purchase. Songbook Story makes a wonderful gift for someone who enjoys music and wants the opportunity to share stories that they have never had the opportunity to share before.
Where is the interview carried out? Is it in person or virtually?
You are invited to do your Songbooks Story in our dedicated space in Weybridge, Surrey. The interview can be carried out in any quiet space this includes a recording studio, meeting room, or even in your own home at an additional cost. A convenient and suitable venue can be sourced and agreed on booking.
How do I share my chosen songs?
We ask you to complete an online form in advance of your scheduled interview, this form will ask for the song title and artist, along with a brief explanation as to why you have chosen each song. It’s your choice in what order you want the songs to be discussed in the interview.
Is it the songs or the stories that are the focus of the interview?
The songs provide the basis to talk about the memories that are associated with them. During the interview we can listen to all or some of the songs. It’s always lovely to listen to the songs during the interview to take you back to that time allowing us to capture your memories to share and keep.
What happens after the interview?
Your recorded interview will be transcribed and then edited into a carefully curated recording lasting approximately 30 minutes. Your chosen song will be embedded in the interview audio file, allowing you to listen to your complete Songbook Story.
How will the interview be shared?
We want you to be able to share your Songbook Story with family and friends and have a range of options available to enable to you do so. Your Songbook Story will be shared as a digital audio file however there are also options available to send you the final product via Smart speaker, MP3 Player or even a printed transcription. The digital audio file will be password protected to ensure confidentiality.
How long will the interview last?
The interview typically takes 90 minutes; however, this very much depends on the stories you want to share. The interviewer will guide you through the interview to ensure it is kept on track.
What if there are difficult and challenging memories that are brought up from some of the songs I choose?
Most people choose songs that take them back to happy memories. However, we understand that there may be songs that might evoke a range of feelings and emotion. Our interviewers are prepared and very experienced in handling a range of social topics and work according to a code of conduct and can signpost you for relevant support if necessary. You can stop the interview at any time.
How do I choose my eight chosen songs?
We know for many people that choosing eight songs over a lifetime is very difficult. Many clients have chosen songs that are not necessarily their favourite, but songs that take them back to a time in their life that they want to talk about. There is no limit to how many Songbook Stories you can do!
What if there are parts of the interview that I don’t want to form part of my final Songbook Story?
You can let the interviewer know if there are parts of the interview that you do not want to be in your final Songbook Story.
How to you keep my recorded interview confidential?
Your audio files are stores in a secure virtual cloud, with access password protected.
Can I change the songs I choose?
Yes, we ask you to think about the songs that you want to talk about in advance and share these via the online form no later than 48 hours before the interview. This helps for us to prepare the guided interview; however, you are welcome to change your song choices if you feel the need to.
